Great Parks Day Camps
Multiple Camp Sessions Offered | June 4th - August 9th
Hands down, one of the best things about raising a family in Cincinnati is the access to the amazing park system from Great Parks of Hamilton County. Every summer, the programming at Great Parks becomes even more robust than usual and they introduce a variety of summer camp options for our kiddos, ages 2-17.
We know your children will love being able to get outside this summer and learn about canoeing, archery, survival (among other adventure camp options), nature, farm life, fishing and even horseback riding!
***Mom Tip*** There is nothing that says you can’t choose more than one, which makes Great Parks Summer Camps an amazing option for those who need several week-long options or who have multiple kids with varied interests.
Camps are held in various Great Parks across the Cincinnati area, including Sharon Woods, Winton Woods and Lake Isabella. All camps are drop-off unless otherwise indicated. The versatility in location, as well as dates, make Great Parks Summer Camps a summer mom win as well!
June 4th - August 11th
Art Workshop offers some of the most creative art camps in Cincinnati! This is a place for kids to create and explore all aspects of art, to exercise their imaginations and generate ideas. Your kids can create their Own World or a Fantastic Beast from Harry Potter, Invent a new Video Star or a Pet that no one is allergic to! They can make their own masterpieces with Drawing, Painting, Clay, Papier Mache and Pottery Wheel. Every week is something new and exciting. Seriously, the kids don’t want to leave!
The pottery wheel camp has been a personal favorite of one of the Cincinnati Moms Blog kiddos for three years in a row now. Every student (ages 6 and up) gets their own pottery wheel for the week to explore the joy and skill of throwing. Glazing techniques and some hand building round out this introductory camp. To improve skill level, the class can be taken multiple times and proceed to Intensive Wheel at the end of the summer. Seriously, how cool would your child think it is to be able to create pottery on a wheel, just like professional artists do?
June 10th - August 10th
A summer spent in the North Carolina mountains is the stuff that childhood dreams are made of! Founded in 1956 as an interdenominational Christian summer camp for boys, Camp Rockmont seeks to provide campers with fun and adventure through appropriate challenges; a better understanding and respect for self and others through group living and shared experiences; an appreciation and concern for the environment; greater self-reliance; stronger Christian values; and a greater understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
For the last half-century and more, Rockmont has been developing a language around male development, honing in on what it means to grow as a young man. We don’t know about you, but we love the purpose and thought that has gone into this programming and the way it lines up with our desires to see our little boys grown into respectable and respectful young men. Spend a little time on their website and you will see what we are talking about. The smiles on the boy’s faces in their pictures and the beautiful landscape only make this camp that much more appealing!
