Smale Park, A Day in Pictures

0

This past week, my girls and I headed downtown to check out the new additions to Smale Park on the river. We had an amazing time and it made for a pretty perfect afternoon, so I thought I would share the experience here for those of you who have not yet made it that way.

SmaleWe started off our afternoon at the carousel. The artsy person in me could not get enough of the carousel. It is absolutely gorgeous. The proud Cincinnatian in me loved looking at all of the details on each one of the animals. I think I could go several times and see something new every time. Tokens to ride are $2 each. If you think you will go more than once, I recommend buying one of the bulk token packages as they don’t expire and they are cheaper that way. We rode 3 times and the girls would have kept going, but I made them save some tokens for next time!

carouselWe then headed down the steps and across to the new playground. This park has a lot of cool features you don’t see at other playgrounds, which made it that much better. The slides seemed to be a hit with the other kiddos, but mine loved the long rope bridge, rock walls and wooden climbing spaces. The location is beautiful, sitting at the foot of the suspension bridge. Very peaceful.

PlaygroundFinally, we headed back up to the fountains. I do recommend finishing with this as 1) you can’t ride the carousel with wet clothes on and 2) it is nice to end with the water after working up a sweat playing. The girls ran, splashed and played while I read a book… heaven!

fountainsSo, pick a day this summer and head down with the family to check out this incredible addition to our amazing city. (And if you do, don’t forget to tag us on instagram with #cmbbucketlist).

I am already planning our next visit.

I am Mom to two beautiful, sassy little girls; Nora & Meredith. It was only after becoming a mother that I really started to appreciate how lucky we are to live in this Southwest Ohio, surrounded by amazing green space, culture, history, sports, and the arts. I love using all aspects of Cincinnati (Dayton and NKY too if I am being honest) as a playground for my kids and myself. I often drag my friends and family from the East side to the West side in search of another new and exciting adventure.
