Resolution Resources for Moms in the New Year

0

It’s 2017! As we start a new year, New Year Resolutions are always on everyone’s mind – for both our children and ourselves. This year, instead of a list of goals that I will likely forget about and not accomplish, I chose to reflect and meditate on ONE word for 2017.  You can see that word here.  Usually though, as with all my resolutions, I find myself wanting to document more.  Each year as I reflect on the past, I can’t help but reminisce on how much my family has grown in that year.  New skills were learned and friendships made.  Time seems to get faster with each passing year.

After discussing my New Year Resolutions with some friends, I realized that it’s pretty common for moms to want to write more (whether through journaling or basic planning).  I’m not great at keeping journals, however, I have several resources that I do to help with this task.  These activities only take a few minutes each and help me become the best mama I can be.  So to help you with your resolutions, I wanted to share these resources for all the moms out there who may be looking to add something like this to their new year. And BONUS, there is even a resource for your children at the bottom.

Resolution Resources: One Line a Day

One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book

I am currently on year four of using this book.  I keep it on my bedside table and it only takes about 30 seconds to write a few lines on what happened during that day.  Once you have completed a year of writing in this book, it’s fun to go back and look at the previous year’s events.  It also reminds you of birthdays and wedding anniversaries if you choose to write those in the book.

Resolution Resources: The Five-Minute Journal

The Five-Minute Journal

This journal helps you focus on the good in your life, become more mindful and live with intention.  It is structured with activities for both morning and evening, focusing on gratitude.  Life has many ups and downs and this journal helps you to focus on the positive in your life.  There has been so much psychological research on the affects of gratitude, including increased happiness, better relationships, and becoming more optimistic.  I dare you to try it.

Resolution Resources: The 52 Lists Project

The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration

This great resource comes from another blogger I have followed for years.  Her name is Moorea Seal.  This journal is for those list – loving mamas out there.  The premise is easy – create 52 lists, one for every week of the year, that will help you discover the beauty, joy, creativity, and power you already have.

Resolution Resources: Day Designer Strategic Planner

Day Designer Strategic Planner

Every mama needs a strategic planner and most of you probably already have a favorite, but I wanted to show you another option.  I love how each day is laid out by hour so I can’t miss anything.  And it’s hardcover so Yay! for disaster proof (well until your child throws it in a puddle).

Resolution Resources: Our Q&A a Day

Our Q&A a Day: 3-Year Journal for Two People

Just as important as growing as a mom, you must grow as a married couple.  This simple one – line – a – day Q&A journal will help you do just that with less than 30 seconds a day.  Amazon describes this as a ” three-year time capsule of your relationship in the easiest way possible.” Each day has a question and you both must answer.  If you get behind a few days, take this on a road trip to pass the time.

Resolution Resources: Start Where You Are Journal

Start Where you Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration

Really, Amazon describes this journal perfectly:

Start Where You Are is an interactive journal designed to help readers nurture their creativity, mindfulness, and self-motivation. It helps readers navigate the confusion and chaos of daily life with a simple reminder: that by taking the time to know ourselves and what those dreams are, we can appreciate the world around us and achieve our dreams.”

If you are like me and struggle with writing, this fun, interactive and creative journal may be what you need to get started.

**Bonus: A book for your children.
