Sometimes it is hard to get little ones to eat a variety of fruits and veggies, especially dark leafy greens. Smoothies are one of my favorite ways to get in a bunch of different colors of produce, and most kids love smoothies! Double win!
This recipe has every color of the rainbow in it, so it serves up a nice variety of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, while also boosting the immune system. Each 8-ounce serving also provides approximately 72% daily value of omega fatty acids, which are important for heart health.

Starting habits at a young age that improve heart health, like including an omega source in your daily diet, can help reduce the risk.
This is one of our favorite recipes. I hope your littles enjoy it as much as we do!
Rainbow Green Smoothie
Makes approximately 5, 8-ounce servings
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen berries (I used ¾ cup blueberries and ¼ cup strawberries)
½ cup frozen peaches (or other sweet fruit like mango or pineapple)
½ cup fresh red grapes
1 frozen banana (the riper the better- a fresh banana works too, you just might reduce the water)
¾ cup frozen kale
4 pitted dates
2 ½ cups water
4 T ground flax seeds
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender (like a Ninja or Vita-mix) until well blended.
Enjoy!
Tip: You can also make freezer packs ahead of time for easy grab-and-go morning smoothies. Just put all ingredients except water into a freezer bag, then dump in the blender with water the day you need it.
