Okay you guys…you hopefully get it by now. Kandid.ly is great, fantastic, and the bees knees. This is a service that we can all genuinely get excited about because of (a) convenience, (b) price points for every budget, and (c) memories that will last a lifetime.
My story with kandid.ly is going to start differently than the rest, because my first encounter with using the service was before photographer Kati Best** came to my house. My son’s fourth birthday party was in June, and cofounder Sarah brilliantly suggested I contact kandid.ly so I didn’t have to worry about taking pictures in addition to facilitating the party. And, of course, she suggested this SIX days before the party! I hopped online, searched photographers at my price point (um…cheap), and submitted my request. Within 24 hours I was contacted via email and they let me know that the photographer I originally requested was not available. They suggested someone else who was confirmed to be available (and importantly, in the same price range), and voila! Photographer Blair Jones was booked for my party! (It was totally meant to be as my middle name is Blair.)
Blair was just delightful. She was personable but we barely knew she was there! (I should probably mention that I asked her just to document the party with no staged photos, so that’s why she was so inconspicuous.) The hourly rate included everything (pictures and copyright), I had them within a week (per kandid.ly’s policy), and they were easily downloaded to my computer! I can’t emphasize enough how pleased I was with the whole experience and quality of the photos!
Now let me show you my photos from our evening shoot with Kati. My colleagues here at CMB have so far reported that she was sweet, kind, and engaging, and I concur! The photos are wonderful and she captured so many little things that I will look back on with fondness in the future, like the scuff marks on the wall where our recliner hits it and all the freaking cups that are in my house. Seriously…why do we have so many cups?! She captured the BIG feelings in my little preschooler’s body and the look I give him when he’s being bonkers. She captured the “make your own board game” project that took place before bedtime, and I will look back on this and remember all the times my husband made up fun activities for our kids. But more importantly, my boys will be able to look at these pictures when they are grown and see what it really looked like to have their parents engaged in their lives instead of standing behind the camera.
