Meet Erin

Please join us in welcoming our new contributor, Erin, to the Cincinnati Moms Blog writing team!

“A Mason native, who swore I’d never return, let alone stay. I’m a UC grad but I wouldn’t put that at the top of my list of things to know about me. I met my husband during my last year of college and he took me across the world soon after. Literally. We settled back in Cincinnati after he took a job here. I started working full-time and part-time, we had two babies, I quit working my big girl job, and kept the part-time writing gig. I teach yoga, do my best to stay active and healthy with two little ones, read as much as I can, and write a little blog on the side called Sometimes Blonde. I say “little” because you can’t count on me to update it regularly, though you can find out just about anything you’d like to know about me there. You can call me a hockey wife, a yogi, one of those crunchy granola moms, or one of those moms who might be a little too hands-off. Thing is, I am grateful for a life I never asked for and I couldn’t be happier than I am today.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

I would sleep in, have breakfast at The Original Pancake House with my husband and kids (and we’d walk right in), come home and watch the kids play outside while I read a book. We’d order in sushi for dinner and watch a movie together before bedtime.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

We received a huge box of crayons for Christmas this year and it included Crayola Metallic crayons. I would be Deep Space Sparkle because while it’s dark and mysterious, it shimmers just enough to catch your eye. It’s deceivingly beautiful.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

I wouldn’t. I’m terrified of singing in front of others. If I had to choose, maybe Walking in Memphis, though that means you could totally hear my voice. No thanks. Or perhaps something loud like Love Shack so everyone else would be singing along and wouldn’t really pay attention to me.

Who would you call for bail money?

My mom. Her lecture wouldn’t be as bad as my husband’s or my dad’s.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

WARNING: Frequent aloofness may occur.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sammy’s Burgers in Blue Ash is to die for. Sammy’s is the absolute best place to get a burger and a beer in Cincinnati.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Ozo Play Café in Montgomery is one of the few places you can let your kids run wild and still relax without fear of losing them!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing is watching my kids grow up. While bittersweet, I can’t help but feel so proud when they learn something new and develop a new skill. They’re evolving into these little people and it’s exciting to watch it happen.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Mom guilt. Whether you want to have it or not, even if you know you shouldn’t feel it, just when you think you’ve figured it out, mom guilt comes rushing in.

Welcome Erin!
