Meet Ashton

“I hail from Tipp City, Ohio where I grew up around cornfields and hometown parades. I now live near Ault Park, with my husband and two year old boy/girl twins, Shep and Caroline. You can most likely find me dreaming up party themes, the occasional DIY, DVRing reality television to the point of second hand embarrassment, and playing with (more like chasing) my kids around the park. Most days I leave the house uncertain I’m not wearing mom jeans.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

My day would magically involve hanging out at my cool moms group with friends like ohyouknow Beyoncé and Blue Ivy. Afterwards, I would practice yoga on a mountain top in my sports bra (’cause I wish I could be one of those girls). My two year old twins would eagerly eat all of the organic vegetable bounty we foraged from our backyard garden, and I encourage them as they solved the world economy on their vintage abacus. Finally, my family and I would end our day aboard a Caribbean sunset cruise on a boat my husband built (from salvaged wood, of course!), whilst our butler served artisanal cocktails of my liking. My Mom and Starbucks would most likely make cameo appearances, as well.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

That one color that keeps kids peacefully entertained at restaurants, is always tidily stored away in its box after use, and doesn’t show up on walls. But, my son would say green because they taste the best.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

Is this question the same as, what song will I be singing when I’m finally discovered? Probably Baby Beluga by Raffi because it’s played on loop in our house, in our cars, and in my head. But, if that’s not readily available, anything by Hall and Oates.

Who would you call for bail money?

My Dad. I think he’s always expected that day to come from his rowdy brood.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Like the penguins at the Cincinnati Zoo, “LOVEABLE NOT TOUCHABLE. Please admire me from afar.” Samesies.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Since all things in my life revolve around food, I’d choose Boca for dinner and request Sotto ricotta doughnuts for desert. Technically, the same building. If my twins had opinions, it would be anything they can grab within arms reach from the grocery cart.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

The Cincinnati Zoo. We’re basically a circus everywhere we go. Might as well feel at home amongst the animals.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My kids! Simply the best – funny, lovable, albeit naughty at times. Plus, their cuteness only sweetens the deal.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Finding the balance between family, work, and showering.
