Make the Time

If you are anything like me, you have heard bits and pieces about Medspa services, such as Coolsculpting and Botox. Also, if you are like me, you have a ton of questions about what those terms actually mean and even though you are curious, you are too afraid (or too busy) to ask. Questions such as:

How invasive are they really? How much do they cost? What benefits can I realistically expect to see from them?

Recently, I was able to spend a little time with Kaitlyn Lovett, one of the Nurse Practitioners and Medspa Clinicians at Your Wellness Center. She gave me the low down on the true variety of services they offer, but also the 411 on which procedures are the most popular with women and why.

Botox

What is it?
Botox is a purified biologic protein that is injected into a specific muscle to weaken the muscle for improved muscle relaxation and improved facial lines (which are caused by aging, sun damage, heredity, and gravity). (Information from Your Wellness Center website.)

What is the time commitment?
Botox injections take only minutes to administer. Initially, you will need to schedule maintenance appoints every 3-4 months, but with regular treatment, this can stretch to 5-6 months between treatments.

Where/Why would I get Botox?
Botox can help with any number of those lines you wish would disappear. The “elevens” (those lines between your eyebrows that show up from furrowing your brow), crows feet, forehead lines, lipstick lines and that gummy smile.

Fun fact about Botox, we did not know!
Botox can sometimes be used to help treat TMJ. Also, it does NOT mean that you can no longer show emotion. Most people would never know you had it done unless you choose to tell them.

What does it cost?
Botox ranges from $200-$450 depending on how many areas you are treating.

Coolsculpting

What is it?
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, non-invasive fat reduction procedure which utilizes Cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis is an FDA-cleared method of using controlled cooling temperatures to target unwanted fat cells and permanently eliminate them from the body. Once frozen, the fat cells are naturally eliminated from the body over 3 months. (Information from Your Wellness Center website.)

What is the time commitment?
One area of treatment typically takes an hour, but the time commitment will vary based on the size of the area and how many areas you are choosing to treat.

Where/Why would I do Coolsculpting?
The main reason why someone would consider Coolsculpting is because it is a non-invasive way to help eliminate unwanted fat (yes!). While you do have to maintain the results by continuing to choose a healthy lifestyle, it can be that boost you need to get jumpstarted on those pesky problem areas. Coolsculpting can help treat that double chin, underarm pooch, bra/back fat, abdomen, thighs, and even your muffin top!

Fun fact about Coolsculpting, we did not know!
One treatment destroys 25% of fat cells in that area.

What does it cost?
$600 per area for a smaller area, most people average $1200-$3600 for treatment.

Hydrafacial

What is it?
The HydraFacial MD is a completely non-invasive treatment used to nourish and restore the integrity of the skin. There are four steps to the process:

  1. Exfoliation – Designed to remove dead skin from your face
  2. Mild Peel – Designed to loosen oil and impurities
  3. Pore Extraction – Designed to clean out blackheads
  4. Infuse Peptides – This is for fine lines and wrinkles and includes Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and keeps skin moisturized and plump
(Information from Your Wellness Center website.)

What is the time commitment?
The Hydrafacial is a 20 minute process, making it easy to fit into your busy schedule.

Why would I get a Hydrafacial?
The Hydrafacial is designed to go significantly above and beyond what you can get with over the counter products or the average every day facial. The process is designed to support the natural body process by introducing natural substances typically found in the body, but that decrease as we age. Plus, having it done can be that quiet mama “me time” you have been craving!

Fun fact about the Hydrafacial, we did not know!
The four-step process can be altered to ensure safety for pregnant and breastfeeding women, by simply skipping the last “infusion” step.

What does it cost?
$149, recommended monthly

One of the CMB team members got to experience the Hydrafacial at one of our Moms Night Out events!

Hair Removal – BBL Hair Removal™

What is it?
BBL Hair Removal™ (Broadband Light™) is an innovative technology that utilizes pulsed light energy to target hair follicles. The light energy is absorbed by the hair follicle, destroying it. (Information from Your Wellness Center website.)

What is the time commitment?
Each treatment is 30-45 minutes per area, depending on the area.

Where/Why would I have hair removal done?
The “why” is obvious – who wants to shave ANYTHING?!? The most common places women seek hair removal is the upper lip, underarms and bikini line.

Fun fact about Hair Removal we did not know!
Hair removal, utilizing BBL Hair Removal™ at Your Wellness Center is light-based and the spot size of the light is larger than laser, which makes it a more comfortable process.

What does it cost?
$250-$600 per area treated. It typically takes 6 treatments for permanent removal.

If you are intrigued, but really just not sure where to start, I would suggest calling 513-808-4375 to schedule an initial (FREE!) consultation. This hour will be spent with a staff member at Your Wellness Center, talking to you about your personal goals as well as an analysis with their Visia machine. This machine evaluates skin concerns, including assessment of the following 8 things:

  • Spots
  • UV
  • Pore size
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Redness
  • Brown spots
  • Acne causing bacteria
  • Texture
See the Total Picture of your Skin with Visia

Personally, I love that Your Wellness Center has true medical professionals on staff, bringing knowledge and experience with healthcare to the table in addition to the training required to administer Medspa services, as that is not something you will find everywhere. The staff at Your Wellness Center is a wealth of knowledge about the topics above, as well as MANY that I did not mention here. If you have always wondered if there is “something” you could do to make yourself “feel, live, or look better” – it’s definitely worth scheduling that consultation.
