Tunes & Blooms, Cincinnati Zoo
Thursdays in April, 6-8:30p
See a collection of Cincinnati’s finest and most respected music veterans playing together in the Zoo’s beautiful gardens, for FREE! Why tip-toe through the tulips when you can rock the garden? Admission is free after 5pm. Parking is $9. As a reminder NO outside alcohol is permitted to be brought inside the Zoo. Beer will be available for purchase. Bags will be inspected at the turnstiles before entering the Zoo.

Graeter’s Easter Egg Hunt, Washington Park
April 4, 10a-12p
Over-the-Rhine’s biggest egg hunt returns to Washington Park Saturday, April 4. Produced by 3CDC, the Graeter’s Easter Egg Hunt features 7,500 candy-filled eggs, face painting with On the Line, a petting zoo, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. Taste of Belgium will also be on-site, serving up their signature Belgian waffles.

Join us for a free fun-filled Opening Day Celebration in Washington Park! Festivities begin Monday, April 6, at 11:00am with beverage sales, fun games and live music from local rock band, Glory Days. The Findlay Market Opening Day Parade kicks off at noon and will pass by Washington Park on Elm Street—directly in front of Music Hall—as it makes its way through the city. Don’t have tickets to Opening Day? We’ve rented a giant LED screen for the day, making the Park the perfect place to watch the Reds-Pirates play starting at 4:10!

When a kindhearted woodcutter comes across a nest of freezing baby birds, he gives them a warm home under his hat. The problem is, he lives in a world where tipping your hat to others is not only a courtesy, but also the law, with severe punishments for disobeying. The woodcutter finds himself torn between doing what he feels is right and following the social norms. Will he follow the rules, or follow his heart? This charming fable about choosing to be different is full of laughs and the lesson that strange behavior isn’t always foolish. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Activity: New leaves emerge from the ground and on the trees. How many greens can blue and yellow make? Use some of that new greenery to stamp and paint.

Theme: Rain
Activity: Thankful for the essential nourishment rainwater provides, we celebrate with squirt bottles and water color! Mix cloudy greys when all your colors come together. Make a rainbow to peek through.
April 26
Theme: Earth (Earth Day is April 22)
Activity: Put your hands in the sand. Squeeze some homemade clay. Make a sculpture with the play dough and then color with crayons on sand paper. Plant a bean to take home and watch new life sprout!

Clara’s ordinary day takes an unexpected twist when Mark Twain’s most beloved characters escape from her book!! Putting them back where they belong is going to take help from Mark Twain himself. Madcap is proud to introduce the life and stories of one of America’s greatest literary figures and humorists with giant puppets and audience participation. The stories included are: The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, Legend of Sagenfeld, and selections from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. For students ages 5 – 12, families. Shows start at 2 p.m. and are free for kids and just $5 per adult. Scholarships available.

Zoo Blooms, Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
April 1st – April 30th
Every spring, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden becomes the Cincinnati Botanical Garden & Zoo when it transforms into a magnificent explosion of color! As one of only two accredited botanical gardens in Ohio, the Cincinnati Zoo offers one of the largest tulip displays in the Midwest. Dubbed “Tulip Mania,” Zoo Blooms also features more than one million daffodils, hyacinths, flowering trees, shrubs and other spring bulbs exploding with color.
**Every Thursday in April the zoo will host a Tunes and Blooms concert from 6p-8:30p. Performing artists vary.

Mummies of the World: The Exhibition, Cincinnati Museum Center
Now through April 26
Embark on a journey into the extraordinary world of mummies and mummification. Through modern science, engaging interactive and multi-media exhibits featuring 3-D animation, explore how mummies are created, where they come from and who they were. Using state-of-the-art scientific methodology, discover how modern science enables researchers to study mummies through innovative and non-invasive ways, offering unprecedented insights into past cultures and civilizations.

International Butterfly Show, Krohn Conservatory
April 3 – June 21, 10am-5pm
This year’s theme is Butterflies of the Philippines.  Cascading waterfalls, colorful parrot fish, and mysterious stone sculptures will set the stage for thousands of free flying butterflies who flutter together among visitors and throughout the tropical landscape inside Krohn Conservatory.  $7, $4 children, free ages 4 and under. $12 unlimited admission pins.
