RACHEL

“I was born and raised on the east side of Cincinnati. For the time being, my husband Matt, 22 month-old daughter Emma and our crazy golden doodle Segundo (“second” in Spanish—the first dog didn’t work out—don’t ask) call Northern Kentucky our home. I am a mom, wife, nurse, runner, scrap-booker, baker and avid traveler. In my dream world, I would be a stay at home mom and live in Northern Michigan, which is, by far, my favorite vacation destination. Despite the fact that I am extremely organized and type A, I am also spontaneous. One of our family traditions is to make approximately 50 homemade Christmas cards every year. In my free time, you can find my family and I at one of the many parks in the area (our favorite is Smale, especially in the summer), at the zoo or the aquarium. We also love going to Reds games. I look forward to sharing my mom thoughts and adventures!”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

With my family and dipping my toes in the sand and swimming in the clear waters on one of the many beautiful beaches in Northern Michigan.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Green. It is my favorite color, and I find it calming.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

I’m not much of a singer, but I make up silly songs and sing them to my daughter, so I imagine my song would be an original and geared toward the younger crowd!

Who would you call for bail money?

My dad. He wouldn’t yell or ask questions like my husband would. He would calmly get the money and take me home.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Warning: biggest pet peeve and what makes me most upset is when people are late.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Green Papaya comes to mind. I love sushi!

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Smale Park. We love to walk around, play on the playgrounds, swing on the big swings and splash in the water in the summer!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

So many things: having someone call me “Mama”, the snuggles, the hugs, the kisses, and watching her grow and learn new things on a daily basis.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Feeling like I am already raising a teenager and that is still a decade away. My daughter is beyond independent, sassy, and defiant. (I wonder where she gets that from?)

ZANDRIA

“Zandria is originally from Northwest Ohio. She met her husband in the beginning of her freshmen year of college. He is a born and raised Cincinnati west sider. He took her home to meet the family that December and Zandria fell in love with her husband and Cincinnati. It was an easy decision to make as to what city they would live in after Zandria was done with school. Zandria has been married since 2008 and has lived in Cincinnati since 2009. She has two wonderful boys whom are 4 and 1 and also is pregnant with a third baby due in August 2017. When Zandria is not driving her boys around the city to have an adventure, she enjoys sewing, crafts in general, taking pictures of her family, debating with her husband over who is using a word correctly (and often getting out the dictionary), coffee, and great conversation.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

To pay off all of my student loans. That may sound boring, but that sounds awesome to me right now!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Sparkly Blue, because the sparkly blue crayons make the best fish and oceans.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

Sweet Home Alabama- I would pretty much sing any song that I am familiar with. I have no shame.

Who would you call for bail money?

My husband.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Caution: This lady tells it like it is when asked.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mongomery Inn: I love ribs and many other meals that they offer. I also would have the option to eat a delicious salad if I was looking for a lighter calorie meal.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Cincinnati Zoo

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

I love to watch my children grow and develop their own personalities, interests, likes and dislikes. I learn something new about my kids every day

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

We as moms often put pressure on ourselves and other women to be the perfect mom, which is not attainable. This can sometimes take our focus away from what is really important, our kids.
