LAURA

“I was born and raised on the West Side in Cincinnati and recently made the leap across the river to Northern Kentucky. I graduated first as a Colerain Cardinal and then a Cincinnati Bearcat before circling back to my Cardinal roots to teach Middle School for a number of years. I currently substitute teach in Boone County Schools and love the flexibility and the honesty of kids! My husband, Joe, and I have 3 kiddos: a completely busy, completely “boy” 3rd grader, Sawyer, and twin first grade girls, Evelyn and Emmeline. I am loving the adventure of getting to know our city all over again through the eyes of my kids as we explore, discover and revisit destinations across the Tri-State. I love reading, coffee, snow days, pool days, Amazon Prime, the smell of yellow Mr. Clean and new books, hiking and nature. As I’m just resurfacing from the crazy toddler years, I must admit that I’m still figuring out the rest of what’s going on! I am so thrilled to be partnering with this great group of moms and honored to share a few moments of life here and there with you!”

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Orange – it’s versatile. Bright in the summer, then transitions to pumpkins, leaves and candles in the fall, a snowman’s nose in winter and back to bright in the Spring.

I Will Survive – isn’t that the classic girls’ Karaoke song?!

Who would you call for bail money?

Definitely not my mom! She’d leave me there! : )

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Hmmm… I have no idea?!

HANNAH

“I was born and raised on the East side of the Queen City. When I left to pursue a music therapy degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, I didn’t think I would be returning. But after five years, a wedding, and a diploma, I changed my tune! My husband Stephen and I agreed that Cincinnati was the ultimate place to raise a family. Amazing parks and nature areas, delicious local food, a vibrant arts scene, and plenty of unique attractions to explore….what more could you want? We packed up the U-Haul and never looked back! Now I spend my days as a part-time nanny to two creative kiddos and a full-time mama bear to my own sweet baby boy, Shiloh. In my tiny slivers of free time, I love indulging in iced coffee, hot baths, and long books–preferably all at once.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

I’d spend the day drinking a never-ending glass of iced coffee while playing the piano, singing, and writing songs.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Green: it’s practical and works hard to be useful to the picture, but it can also be super playful and fun.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

“Gravity” by Sara Bareilles– that belted high note at the end is the best!

Who would you call for bail money?

My mom, of course. Nobody loves you like mama loves you.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Warning: will explode without alone time!

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I could eat LaRosa’s calzones forever.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

The Cincinnati Nature Center, for sure!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

The sheer joy on my baby’s face when I walk in the room melts my heart every time.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

I could do without the night feedings…I think I’ve just about forgotten what it’s like to complete a REM cycle. But it’s worth it, of course. 🙂
