“I am a midwest and Cincinnati transplant, currently living in Lebanon after moving all across the US as a child. My husband and I planted our roots here after college, and strengthened those roots once we started having children. We have been married for 7 years, and our children keep us busy at the ages of 6, 3, and 1. The five of us spend our weekends exploring the parks and museums in the city, and then hitting the library so we can snuggle in with some good books at home. By night I am a certified birth doula and childbirth educator who believes that every birth deserves support. My passion is providing unbiased and experienced support to growing families, whether they are trying to achieve an unmedicated birth, want an epidural, or are planning a cesarean. I blog about all things pregnancy, birth, and parenting in Cincinnati at my website, Southwest Ohio Family Doulas.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? 13557794_1125583704173307_5310395738601289794_n

Get myself to the beach and lay on a lounge chair all day with a good book, ice cool drink, and no responsibilities! What mom doesn’t fantasize about a beach vacation on long days??

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Hot pink. I have a softer, introverted side, but I am also quite bold and like to put a strong foot forward into the world.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Diana Ross. It reminds me of my mom because we had a mother-daughter dance to it at my wedding, and my brother had a mother-son dance to it at his wedding recently too. I don’t know if that it is the original intention of the song, but to me it is a reminder of the powerful bonds of family. Plus, it’s just such a powerful song musically, I would love to belt it out!

Who would you call for bail money?

My grandpa. He’s smart and level-headed, and has helped me so much over the years. I know he’d bail me out, and then get me on the track to set me straight again!

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

“Unstoppable.” When I put my mind to something, I tend to make it happen.

13254053_1098556920209319_1518352794961568270_nIf you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Wildflower in Mason! The menu is locally sourced, and it’s delicious. Plus it changes fairly frequently, so I wouldn’t get bored eating the same things forever!

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Oh my goodness. There are so many fabulous places to take the kids, it’s hard to choose! Most frequented for our family is the Cincinnati Zoo, though. We’ve seen the cheetah show a dozen times, and my kids especially enjoy visiting the reptile house.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Seeing my children grow and develop. You work so hard taking care of them and teaching them, and it is so rewarding to be there when the light bulb goes off. You get to see that all of the tireless work really is paying off.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

That there just are never enough hours or minutes in the days to do it all and be it all for everyone. And sometimes, the nonstop questions from the backseat!

Welcome Kate!
