It’s no secret that I absolutely love pictures, whether they are taken on an iphone or by a professional. So when I was approached with the opportunity to have a photographer from Kandid.ly come into our home to capture our every day moments, I jumped at the chance. At first, I was leaning more towards having Kati**, the Kandid.ly photographer, come in the morning since my children tend to be all smiles when they first wake up. After thinking about it more, I opted for the evening so our time spent with Kati wouldn’t be rushed, even though it was a risky move. The chances of my kids being happy after daycare and preschool all day were slim to none, but I went with my gut and scheduled it for the evening and I am so happy I did. Not only was my husband able to be home, but shockingly my littles were in the best moods on Kandid.ly day.
I should also preface this with the fact that my children are known to be complete terrors when it comes to getting any sort of professional pictures taken, especially the youngest. During a recent birthday photo session, the only thing he would do is say “No more!” to the poor photographer. Needless to say, my husband and I didn’t have high hopes for a middle of the week photo session, but the instant that Kati arrived she put all our fears to rest. From the moment she walked in, my kids loved her, even the youngest. Both were all smiles as they showed off their trucks and animals. Kati willingly took pictures of close to 30 animals for my oldest.
Instead of trying to fit in a lot when Kati was here, I decided to just do our normal bedtime routine. After playing, we then went upstairs for bath time and to get ready for bedtime. She was able to capture my boys being so sweet to each other- a before bath time hug and even washing each others’ hair in the bath.
Bedtime in our house tends to go one of two ways- super stressful and crazy with the kids not listening or quick and easy. Luckily, for all of us, it was so easy with Kati there. She put everyone to ease and my kids were quick to get into their jammies and brush their teeth. She was also able to capture one of my youngest’s last time with his precious bottle ( I know, he was almost two in these pictures- it isn’t like he is going to college with a bottle right??) These pictures are so special to me because it represents another “last” in his little life.
After putting my baby to bed, it was time for the big brother. We read several books and had quality time with just us, which is so rare in our hectic lives. I am so glad that Kati was able to capture just how special bedtime can be on any ordinary night.
I was so impressed with Kati and the way she interacted with my children that I plan to use her again in the future. My children even asked the next day if she was coming back the next night!
