I have never been to Costco.

There!  I’ve said it!  Don’t judge me and my life.

This proclamation is no longer true since I made my first trip recently in order to write this post, but it took 34 years for me to achieve this great feat.   I had never really considered joining Costco because (1) there isn’t a warehouse within 5 minutes of my house and (2) it seems like a trip to Costco takes planning.  I am a self-proclaimed “hot mess mom”, so planning ahead is not one of my strengths and convenience is my middle name.  I also live in a house the size of a shoe box, so where would I put hoards of juice boxes and trail mix?

So many bulk items, so little time.

I have seen the light!

My first Costco selfie.

In true hot mess mom fashion, I strapped my toddler on my back and and walked in the exit door, ready for anything.  All I knew was I needed peanut butter and I wanted to see the giant Costco teddy bears in real life.  #lifegoals

Not only did we see the teddy bears and find peanut butter (enough to last approximately 3 months), but I learned that Costco can be a great resource for even the hot-messiest mom (aka, me)!  There’s no plan needed, and even just one or two visits per month will help you save a ton of money AND make it look like you know what you’re doing with your life!  I’ve been watching my friends feed their kids Kirkland Signature products for years, and I can now say I am the proud owner of a huge box of KS organic apple sauce pouches!  *HIGH FIVE*

My Top 5 Costco Finds

  1. Cake & Wine  ::  It just so happens that I went to Costco the day before my husband’s birthday.  I of coursehad not shopped for this momentous occasion yet.  Enter a HUGE, delicious chocolate cake (for $18) and a bottle of KS Proseco (for around $7)!  You guys…when I say huge, I mean we are still eating this cake over a week later.  We have kept it in the refrigerator and it is still yummy!
  2. Trail Mix & Apple Sauce Pouches  ::  This hot-mess mom’s snacking woes are gone now that I have every bag I own stuffed with trail mix and apple sauce pouches!  No planning needed.  I love that the apple sauce is organic and the trail mix has lots of cashews and almonds!
  3. Lasagna  ::  Frozen lasagna is one of my go-to quick dinners.  Did I mention I also hate to cook?  I usually buy the “family size” lasagna at the grocery store for around $8.  I picked up the KS version, which is roughly 3 times bigger, for around $11.  This lasagna yielded 2 full meals in my house feeding a family of 4.  YES.
  4. Sparkling Flavored Water  ::  One of my guilty pleasures!  I usually grab one or two from the store as a treat…at Costco I got 24!  They are normally $1 when they are on sale at other stores, but 24 bottles at $6.99 equals 29 cents each!  Now I just have to keep them out of my kids’ grubby fingers.
  5. Cheese  ::  Bulk cheese.  I don’t think I need to say more.
Costco should obviously hire me to style their product photos. Obviously.

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
