This guide is presented in partnership with 3CDC. We are so grateful for the family-friendly events they have brought to our city at Fountain Square, Memorial Hall and Washington Park - all year round, but especially at the holidays.

PNC Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo

November 18th - January 1st, 2018

The Cincinnati Zoo will once again be transformed into a “Wild Wonderland” for the 35th annual PNC Festival of Lights! In addition to admiring the beauty of 3 million LED lights, visitors can watch a Madcap black-light puppet show, ride the BB&T Toyland Express, search for fairies in Fairyland, marvel at the spectacular Wild Lights show on Swan Lake, or snack at one of two S’mores-n-More stands. NEW in 2017 – Santa will be available for visits starting at 4 p.m., an hour before the rest of the festivities begin. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.

The Cincinnati Choo Choo Holiday Show at Krohn Conservatory

November 18th - January 7th, 2018

Discover the magic of being home for the holidays aboard the Cincinnati Choo Choo at Krohn Conservatory!  The 2017 Holiday Show will bring you back in time to holiday festivities in the city and remind you of the best family traditions.  The conservatory showroom will be filled with ruby red poinsettias, fanciful evergreens, cyclamen, amaryllis, and more of your favorite holiday plants.  Delightful botanical architecture surrounded by many miles of train track will be created in natural components by the Applied Imagination team. The train display and historical buildings created by Applied Imagination will immerse our visitors in the sights and sounds of chugging trains and splashing water, with trains overhead and trolleys at your feet.  Bring the family to Krohn Conservatory and continue to make great holiday memories!

Light Up Fountain Square

November 24th

Festivities will begin at 5pm with a special appearance by Santa Claus. Fountain Square will also feature plenty of food, music, ice skating and a fireworks show that’s sure to be a “blast!”



Santa's Workshop featuring the Shillito's Elves

November 24th - December 24th

Santa’s Workshop is full of excited elves preparing everything for another magical, merry Christmas for boys and girls across the globe. They’ve opened their shop to allow visitors to get a peek at their preparations for Christmas.

Visitors to Santa’s Workshop walk through 12 animated scenes and mail letters to Santa in the elves’ giant mailbox. Santa’s Workshop is presented by the Mariemont Inn with support from The National Exemplar restaurant.

Thursdays and Fridays 2pm to 8pm; Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 8pm. The display will be closed Monday through Wednesday this season.

Cost is $4 per person. Children 3 and under are free with paying admission.

WinterFest at Kings Island

November 24th - December 30th

Imagine an old-fashioned winter…rosy-cheeked skaters gliding under twinkling lights, the magic of dazzling holiday shows and carolers in traditional costumes, shops filled with ornaments, trinkets and toys, the aroma of freshly-baked treats and the spirit of everyone’s favorite season captured in an atmosphere of warmth and nostalgia – a place where memories of holidays past are present; a place where memories of holidays now are waiting to be made. Ring in the holidays with the return of WinterFest at Kings Island. It’s an unforgettable experience with the park transformed into nine enchanting winter wonderlands featuring ice skating on the Royal Fountain, the Eiffel Tower transformed into a magical Christmas tree, up to 17 rides including Mystic Timbers, more than 5 million lights and 14 holiday characters spreading merriment, like Jack Frost and Sugar Plum Fairy.

Macy's Downtown Dazzle

November 25th, December 2nd & December 9th

Each Saturday Santa rappels down the Huntington Center at 525 Vine St., to the Macy’s rooftop to kick off a spectacular fireworks display. This 20-minute family-friendly program also features performances from local choirs. Then, come inside to Macy’s Fountain Place to warm-up with holiday fun.

Santa Skates at Fountain Square

November 25th - December 24th

Festivities will begin at 5pm with a special appearance by Santa Claus. Fountain Square will also feature plenty of food, music, ice skating and a fireworks show that’s sure to be a “blast!”

Saturdays & Sundays 12-1p

Cost is $6 to skate; $4 for skate rental

Live Nativity Scene at Krohn Conservatory

December 9th - January 1st, 2018

Located just outside Krohn Conservatory, the kids will enjoy visiting with the donkeys and other animals in a live nativity as you talk about the story of Christmas.

Daily 9am – 9pm

This event is free.

Holiday Junction featuring Brickopolis at the Museum Center

November 10th - December 31st

Fan favorites like the Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends and the Super-O interactive layout trains will return this year. In addition to a variety of train layouts of different sizes and themes, the riding train will be back, letting riders chug along through a winter wonderland. In addition to favorites from holidays past, Holiday Junction featuring Brickopoliswill include a blizzard of bricks crafted into custom LEGO creations courtesy of the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana LEGO Users Group (OKILUG). And, of course, Santa will arrive Friday, November 24, ready to listen to the wish lists of kids big and small.

The Duke Energy Holiday Trains will not be on display this season. The Duke Energy Holiday Trains will reopen in their new gallery for the 2018 holiday season.

Guests have the option to buy stand alone tickets to Holiday Junction or a package ticket that also includes admission to the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

The Holiday Trains at the Behringer Crawford Museum

November 11th - January 14th, 2018

Head up the hills of Devou Park for the 26th anniversary of the Holiday Trains at the Behringer Crawford Museum. Your entire family will enjoy all of the intricate details of the display and checking out the rest of the museum as well.

Tuesday – Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 1pm-5pm

Cost is General Admission; Members are free.

Christmas at EnterTRAINmentJunction

November 11th - December 31st

Create a holiday tradition for your family! See the magic of Christmas at the home of the World’s Largest Indoor Train Display. Take a “Journey to the North Pole”, where you can meet Mrs. Claus and Santa himself. See the “Main Street Holiday Trains” which offers some beautiful winter train displays.

Metamora Holiday Excursion at Whitewater Valley Railroad

November 24th - December 16th

Special holiday shopping excursions to Metamora are available in conjunction with Metamora’s Annual Christmas Walk. Reservations must be made in advance. Early reservations are highly recommended, since these trains usually sell out very early due to the trains limited capacity. Note:: These trains are not affiliated with the Polar Express.

Saturdays (and the Friday after Thanksgiving) 4pm departure with 3.5 hour layover

North Pole Express at LM&M Railroad

November 25th - December 24th

During the hour-long journey Santa and his elves will make their way through the train to visit with each family. Every child will receive a bell from Santa’s sleigh. You are encouraged to bring your own camera, pictures with Santa are allowed and encouraged. Balloon artists will also be on-board the train. Every passenger will receive a FREE souvenir hot chocolate mug. Each child will receive a special “North Pole Express” souvenir train ticket.

Christmas Nights of Lights at Coney Island

November 10th - January 1st, 2018

This family event features a 2-mile car ride through Christmas displays and light shows consisting of over a million LED lights, driven by more than ten thousand computer channels. Visitors of all ages will be awed by the larger than life trees, glowing snowflakes, dancing candy canes and fantastic tunnels of lights!  In the warmth of your own car, you can sing along to the sounds of the season synchronized to each holiday display.

Holiday in Lights at Sharon Woods

November 17th - December 31st

Built over a mile of wooded roadway, the holiday-themed displays of fantastic seasonal color adorns the woods, depicting everything from Santa Claus and his elves to every animal on the ark. There’s no need to bundle up to enjoy Holiday in Lights; simply warm up the car, turn your radio dial to Warm 98, round up your friends, family, or a special date, and head to Sharon Woods. It’s that easy.

Holiday Lights on Pyramid Hill

November 17th - December 31st

Take a leisurely 2-mile drive that winds through acres of sculptures covered in lights.

The Christmas Ranch

November 17th - December 23rd

Enjoy this spectacular walk-thru Christmas wonderland that boasts 1 million dancing Christmas lights synchronized to holiday music. There are Christmas shops, Santa’s bakery, train and wagon rides, and pictures with Santa!

Light Up Middletown

A driving tour which includes holiday-themed areas including Santa’s sleigh, a train, animated swans, penguin village and a hot air balloon.

Niederman Family Farm Christmas Walk

November 24th - December 30th

Experience the magic of the holiday season at the annual Niederman Family Farm Christmas Walk. Visitors will enjoy tens of thousands of lights that illuminate the path. Fifty speakers set the mood with holiday music as you view life-size nativity and Biblical scenes. As you complete your Christmas Walk journey, the Niederman family will treat you to cookies and hot chocolate! The walking path is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Timeless Memories of Christmas presented by La Comedia Dinner Theatre

The Nutcracker Immersion Experience at Hauk Mansion

This is a Warren County Theatre Project (which is a non-profit organization dedicated to getting children involved in the performing arts), at Hauk Mansion in Mason. One of our very own Cincinnati Moms Blog writers is in the cast with her daughter!

The Dancing Princesses presented by Ensemble Theatre

A Christmas Story

The Nutcracker

Holidays at the Taft - Antique Christmas

November 3rd - January 7th

Escape to a winter wonderland of Christmas past at the Taft’s annual display of antique ornaments, decorations, and toys. 

Securing timed tickets in advance is recommended. Walk-ins will be accommodated as available. 

Cost is general admission for non-members; free for members. Sundays are free admission for all. On Sundays in December, timed tickets are required.

Olde West Chester Christmas Walk

November 18th

The parade runs along Cincinnati-Dayton Road to the West Chester Township Administration Building, where the community tree lighting will take place around 8pm.

Liberty Center Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting

November 18th

Kick off your holiday shopping and enjoy live performances and appearances by some of our favorite North Pole guests! Stop by the Cub Clubhouse for cookie decorating and one of our favorite holiday movies, Elf!  There will also be hourly book readings in the Discovery Center of some of our favorite holiday stories! Then pick your spot in the Park for our annual Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony to take place at 7:30pm.

Hometown for the Holidays in Milford

November 24th - November 26th

Visitors will revel in the sounds and delights of the holidays as they shop local for unique gift items, dine in the town’s restaurants and celebrate the spirit of the season. Holiday attractions include Santa & Mrs. Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, strolling Victorian carolers, antique fire engine rides, and holiday music from the Milford High School marching band.

Water Wonderland with Scuba Santa

November 24th - December 31st

Discover the magic of Water Wonderland with Scuba Santa® as Newport Aquarium presents a holiday celebration under the sea. It’s an experience that’s overflowing with enchantment and fun experiences the whole family will love.

Santa's Workshop at Washington Park

November 25th - December 23rd

This year, ditch your annual trip to the mall and venture down to Washington Park to see Santa Claus! Every Saturday in December, Santa and his merry band of Elves will be spending time in Washington Park making gifts, ornaments and other fun creations. Stop by the wish-list station where elves will help you write a list to give to Santa when you meet him- or bring yours from home! Bring your family, your dog, your friends, but most all–be sure to bring your cameras!


This event is free, but you must bring your own camera.

Candlelight Walk in Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village

December 1st

Take a step back into time as the village spends the night illuminated by candlelight. Go back to a time when Christmas time was celebrated in the most basic of ways. All buildings will be open for the public to go through and once it gets dark the whole village will be lit up by candle light along the paths between the buildings and within the buildings themselves.


Cost is $5 per person.

Christmas in Village in Waynesville

December 1st - December 3rd

Waynesville takes on the nostalgic feeling of Christmas past as the downtown is adorned in traditional holiday décor. Make plans to visit this holiday season as we have exciting entertainment, strolling throughout the downtown, in our heated entertainment tent, and in store fronts.  In addition, we have Santa Claus arriving daily via the Wayne Township Fire Department, horse drawn carriage rides, carolers & choirs, costume characters and so much more.

Christmas Walk in Independence, KY

December 2nd

The City of Independence presents the annual Christmas Walk & Tour on the first Saturday in December. In addition to your favorite attractions in Municipal Square, the event has been expanded to include many fun venues in the downtown Courthouse Square area. With the assistance of the Independence Business Association (IBA) and downtown business owners, there are more attractions full of holiday cheer!

Christmas in the Country at the Dinsmore Homestead

December 2nd - December 3rd

The Dinsmore Homestead is a unique historic site where visitors can learn what rural life was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking trails developed in cooperation with the Kentucky Nature Conservancy and the Boone County Parks Department. 


Adults are $7, children 5-15 are $3; children under 4 are free; members are free.

Light Up Fairfield

December 2nd

Help Santa welcome the holiday season and light up the big tree at the Village Green Amphitheater. Activities include a holiday market with local vendors, caroling, ornament crafting and a children’s story time. Click the link for the schedule of events.

Lebanon Christmas Parade

December 2nd

Lebanon’s largest annual event, always held the first Saturday in December. More than 100 antique carriages pulled by majestic Clydesdales, Percherons, and many other breeds of horses parade through the charming streets of Historic Downtown Lebanon. Early birds line the streets for an afternoon parade, while those who attend the evening procession are treated to a candlelit spectacle. Parade Times 1p and 7p (candlelit parade).

Miami Township Tree Lighting

December 2nd

Children can visit with Santa, decorate cookies, have their face painted and make holiday crafts. The Miami Township Christmas Tree will be lit at 5:15 p.m.

Mariemont Luminaria

December 2nd

While the streets are aglow in candlelight, gather in the Old Town Center for the traditional lighting of the Village tree, caroling, horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa, a Bell Tower Carillon concert, and more. This year there will be two food trucks, SugarSnap! Truck and The Chili Hut, so save your appetite for the event.


This is a free event, but proceeds from the purchase of luminariums go towards community improvements.

German Village Christmas Walk

December 3rd

Carriage bells on horse drawn carriages will ring in the annual Christmas walk in German Village. Large toy soldiers will be on display and village ambassadors will welcome and assist you as you wander the village. Listen to strolling musicians in Dickens attire, take a carriage ride, buy roasted nuts and other tasty treats along the way. You can tour St. Julie Billiart Church, private residences, and historic buildings and businesses decorated in full Victorian splendor. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase crafts and gifts and visit with Santa and his reindeer.

An Old Kentucky Christmas

December 7th - December 10th

An Old Kentucky Christmas will take you back in time to the simplicity of a colonial Kentucky Christmas. The smell of Grandma’s cookies, the sound of carols and laughter, the joy of watching children and adults decorating ornaments. And it’s not just picture-worthy, we think it’s memory-worthy.

Christmas Town

December 8th - December 30th

Live Nativity, outdoor lights, and festivities are free for only the cost of parking ($5).

5pm-8pm (Closed Christmas Eve & Christmas Day)

Tickets must be purchased to enter the Creation Museum ($15 after 5 p.m.), to experience a planetarium program, to take camel rides or ride the ziplines.

Mt. Adams Reindog Parade

December 9th

The procession through the streets of Mt. Adams will be led by Santa himself. Food and vendors will be available before the parade, so join the party ahead of time! Every year a group of celebrity and sponsor judges that help us choose the best costumed dogs for prizes.

Holly Days at the Heritage Village Museum

December 9th - December 10th

Travel back in time to feel the warmth and beauty of a 19th Century holiday season. Some of the historical buildings will be decked out with traditional decorations from the 1800’s. See the Village come alive with storytelling, craft making, model train displays, music, holiday treats, and more! 


Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children 5-11; Children under 5 and museum members are free.

Snowman Swim at Goldfish Swim School

December 15th

This fun event includes open family swim, holiday-themed crafts and activities, snacks, and more!


Cost is $5/person, no more than $15/family.

Pajama Pizza Party with Santa at Niederman Family Farm

December 15th

The first ever Pajama Pizza Party with a visit from Santa! The first hour of the event includes pizza, a hot chocolate bar, cookie decorating and other Christmas activities like writing a letter to Santa. Then once everyone is done eating, Santa will arrive! Each family will be given a number to avoid lines. This will ensure everyone sees Santa and gets as many pictures as they’d like! (So make sure your camera/phone is charged) While waiting to see Santa, there will be more Christmas activities and games to play.

There are two time slots to choose from depending on what works best for your family! 11:30 am – 2:00 pm time slot for lunch or 6:00 pm- 8:30 pm slot for dinner.

Cost is $12/child; $8/adult

The Polar Express Pajama Party at Newport on the Levee

December 16th - December 17th

ALL ABOARD! The magic of the Polar Express arrives at Newport on the Levee. Visitors are greeted at the door with a train ticket, hot cocoa, cookies, and popcorn. Kids (and adults) can attend in their PJs! Pajamas, blankets, and stuffed animals are encouraged!

Enjoy the movie in the former IMAX Theater located in the Valet Circle next to Brio Tuscan Grille. After the movie, receive a bell just like the one in the movie and experience a snowy wonderland once you step outside!

Doors open at 4:15pm, and the movie will begin at 5pm

Holiday in Lights 5K Run/Walk

November 18th

Get into the holiday spirit at the 9th Annual Holiday in Lights 5K Run/Walk at Sharon Woods. This impressive, fun course winds through beautiful Sharon Woods and features the final mile through Holiday in Lights at dusk.

Jingle Bell Run

This 5K run/walk is two flat loops around the scenic lake at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio. Santa suits, elf ears, antlers, groups of reindeer, red noses, etc. all encouraged!


Egg Nog Jog

December 16th

Come to Mt. Adams for an annual holiday tradition. The scenic and challenging course begins at Jerome and St. Gregory and winds through Mt. Adams and Eden Park offering spectacular views of the city.

Located at the spacious Duke Energy Convention Center, you will see aisle upon aisle of unique, one-of-a-kind boutiques and specialty stores from around the greater Cincinnati area as well as out of state offering you an unparalleled selection of home décor, specialty clothing, personal accouterments and gourmet food from the Cincy Specialty Food & Treats Show sprinkled throughout the entire Show floor.

The Germania Christkindlmarkt: the oldest and most authentic Christkindlmarkt in the Cincinnati region — all under covered, enclosed, heated tents! With holiday entertainment, German music, a children’s lantern parade, petting zoo, caroling children’s groups, and carriage rides. Plus traditional German food (including our famous dill pickle soup), German Bier, Glühwein (hot mulled wine), holiday cocktail bar, German pastries, cookies, and candies.

Crafty Supermarket 2017 Holiday Show

Get your holiday shopping done early in the newly renovated Music Hall! Over 90 crafters from all over the eastern U.S. are coming to the show, plus a live DJ, great food, a cash bar, craft activities and swag bags for the first 100 shoppers.


Oxford Business Holiday Walk

December 1st

Go uptown and enjoy free food samplings, a Christmas tree decorating contest, a bonfire to keep you warm, live music from Talwanda acapella groups, coffee from the Tim Horton’s food truck, prizes, and more! Then walk around to all the uptown businesses and enjoy a night of shopping.
