5 Gifts to the Modern Day Mom

5 giftsThere are so many things moms (and dads) do everyday that they could use a helping hand (or two) to complete. The following is a list of 5 modern conveniences that the moms at Cincinnati Moms Blog think are the best!

GPS. We all know and love it, although I certainly appreciate it more as a mom! No getting lost on the way to or home from play group with an unhappy baby in the back seat.  Added bonus, when it’s built into the dashboard no one small can run away with the cords or try to eat it, and the batteries don’t die!

Oral-B’s Disney Timer App. This app turns kids who hate brushing teeth into cleaning pros! The two minute timer runs while kids brush their teeth, and when the music stops brushing is complete!

Kroger Fuel Points. Buying all those diapers and formula pays off!  Also, you get extra points on the gift cards to shop at other places, sometimes up to 4X the fuel points. I confess, quite often I will buy Target or Lowes gift cards at Kroger when we have birthdays, holidays or a home improvement project coming up and I know I will be spending a lot of money in one of those stores.

Subscriptions with Delivery. Everything from dog food to diapers can be ordered on a subscription and delivered according to moms preferences! For us, it’s the dog food! Both Pet Wants and Argos (our choice!) are local Cincinnati stores that deliver, so we never run out of what we need. For many moms though, it’s Amazon Mom and the diapers subscription that is counted on – especially those moms in the city who don’t have a car!  Way easier to have them delivered and never worry about that ‘oh-no!’ moment when the diapers are gone.

Scan & Go scanners at Kroger. I did a trial of this today at the Anderson Kroger. (Cherry Grove has them too and I’m sure many other stores do as well, but these are the two stores I shop at.) I was really happy with this experience. I only needed a few things, but not having to double handle what I bought did save time!  What I didn’t realize is you check out through Self Scan only, there is a barcode at the register you scan after your shopping is done. It works for everything I tried except gift cards, which the attendant scans anyway when you do Self Scan.  We will definitely be using the scanners again!

**BONUS** Caffeine. It may not be modern, but there are plenty of new ways to get it from fancy lattes to refreshers at Starbucks. We love it. We need it.

What modern day convenience do you consider to be a gift to Moms?
